Cycling

This is the perfect area to explore by bike, a cycle up Glen Lyon will not disappoint, and it’s got just the right level of up and down hill and some truly magnificent scenery.  There are plenty of other cycle routes in the area including some off road for the more adventurous.  Bikes can be hired from Girvens, Aberfeldy Tel 01887 820254 or Highland Safaris nr. Water adventure

Fishing

Closest to the cottage is the River Lyon, the trout fishing is first class and fishing permits can be obtained on various stretches of the river, visit www.anglingintayside.co.uk for more information and contact details. The longest river in Scotland, the River Tay runs along beside Aberfeldy and is one of the greatest Salmon fishing rivers in the world. Golf

If golf is your passion, you will be spoilt for choice with the Aberfeldy 18 hole course practically on your doorstep, or travel a few miles and choose from the attractive 9 hole courses at Kenmore and Strathtay or the challenging 18 holes around the magnificent Taymouth Castle.  If that’s not enough a ½ hour drive away there are a further 5, 18 holes at Pitlochry, Crieff, Killin, Dunkeld and Blairgowrie.  For more information take a look at the Perthshire Golf Directory; you can purchase a Green card, which discounts golf on 19 of Perthshire’s 18 hole venues for more information Call 01887 829010.

 

Horse Riding

Safaris & off road

Highland Adventure Safaris offer award winning Land Rover safaris either day or evening, families or adult groups, including the chance for some off road driving fun.  There’s a lot more so they are well worth a visit and their café’s very good so you’ll find them amongst our recommendations of where to eat.
